The session reflected on the developments made on Democracy, Human Rights and Active Global Citizenship Education and how the approach to education for human rights and democracy also requires deep insight into the contextual and cultural differences that shape the very notion of citizenship itself. Global active citizenship is much more than the set of skills, but includes knowledge, a strong emotional component and development of agency – capacity and willingness for action.
