The Education and Academia Stakeholder Group represents the voices of educators, students, researchers, and academic institutions within the United Nations system. It is part of the Major Groups and other Stakeholders mechanism that enables civil society to engage in the processes of the UN, particularly in the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
EASG works to ensure that education remains a central part of global policy discussions on sustainable development, social justice, and human rights. The group advocates for inclusive, equitable, and quality education as outlined in Sustainable Development Goal 4, and promotes the role of education and research in achieving all the SDGs.
Through consultations, statements, and collaborative initiatives, EASG creates space for dialogue between academic actors and policymakers, connecting global education movements with the broader UN agenda.
