The Public Education and Human Rights Coalition is a global network of organisations, academics, and activists working to protect and strengthen public education as a human right. Established in 2015, the coalition brings together more than 160 members from over 45 countries who share a commitment to advancing free, quality, and inclusive public education for all.
PEHRC’s work focuses on analysing the impact of education privatisation from a human rights perspective and promoting viable public alternatives. The coalition highlights how well-funded public education systems are essential for equality, social justice, and sustainable development.
Through research, advocacy, and collective action, PEHRC promotes narratives that celebrate public education and defend it against policies that undermine its accessibility or quality. Its members include education unions, NGOs, student organisations, academics, and grassroots movements.
