The Rapid Response Grant (RRG), provided by Urgent Action Fund Asia and Pacific (UAF A&P), offers fast and flexible support to women and non-binary human rights defenders across Asia and the Pacific. Guided by feminist principles, the programme strengthens the safety, wellbeing and resilience of activists and movements facing urgent threats, enabling them to continue their work in secure and supportive conditions.
Who they support #
RRG supports women and non-binary activists, defenders, organisations and movements, including those from minority and marginalised groups such as sex workers, Indigenous communities, migrant rights groups and trade unions. Eligible applicants include Indigenous rights defenders, LGBTQI+ activists, environmental defenders, disability rights advocates, land rights defenders, refugee rights defenders, children’s rights groups and women human rights defenders.
Applicants may be individuals, alliances, informal collectives, unregistered groups or registered organisations.
Geographical focus: Asia and the Pacific.
What support is available #
Financial support may include:
- Legal fees, litigation and court costs
- Appeal costs and bail funds
- Emergency and long-term medical care
- Psychosocial support and wellbeing assistance
- Secure transportation or evacuation
- Secure equipment and digital protection tools (such as VPNs)
- Securitising premises
- Relocation
- Rest and respite
- Expert recruitment for protection or legal needs
- Payments for civil and non-judicial legal representation
Non-financial support may include:
- Linking and learning opportunities for activists and organisations
